About Beth

A writer and editor who believes exclamation points always have a place in your manuscript.

Hi! I’m Beth.

My expertise lies in sharp, witty dialogue that drives scenes and develops characters. I worked on two late-night talk shows where I spent countless hours observing Emmy Award-winning comedy writers take a joke to the next level. That’s why I believe in the power of the punch-up: revising a line until it's razor sharp.

Besides my experience in television, I was a Pitch Wars mentor to two wonderful authors. Both have gone on to find success in publishing. I’ve worked with dozens of others along the way, and have edited 25 manuscripts and countless queries.

My own book, At First Blush, a YA novel about a YouTube beauty guru’s rise to fame, was published by Bloomsbury, and sold foreign rights to two countries.

My approach is light-hearted and fun, but I’ll always encourage you to explore various paths to strengthen your story, rather than go for the easy fix. I gravitate toward a strong voice, but if you don’t have yours nailed down yet, no worries! I can delineate between your unique voice and tone (often confused), then guide you on mining both till your characters jump off the page.

Whether you’ve got your sights set on trad or self-pub, I want you to find joy in the process. As a writer, I know what it means to be goal oriented, but as an editor, I’ll help you embrace the journey.
